Hospice is a compassionate, patient-centered approach to medical care and support delivered by trained professionals for those facing a life-limiting illness.
There are no out-of-pocket expenses to the patient or caregiver for Hospice services. Hospice care is a covered benefit under Medicare Part A, Medicaid, most private insurance plans including HMOs, and other managed care organizations.
Care provided by ViaQuest Hospice is not limited to cancer patients. Our team has expertise in the care of patients with other life-limiting illnesses, such as end stage:
You can reach ViaQuest Hospice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling (724) 864-8614 or 1-888-334-5696.
Hospice care is provided at the patient’s home or other place of residence (nursing home, assisted living, personal care home, hospital, etc.).
The decision belongs to you and your loved ones; however, at any time during a life-limiting illness, it is important to discuss all of your care options, including hospice. The patient and family should feel free to discuss hospice care with their physician or other healthcare professionals. The ViaQuest Hospice Staff is always available to provide information on how we can help you.
No. While ViaQuest Hospice has a Medical Director to oversee the patient’s plan of care, our staff will always work with your physician.
Hospice patients are cared for by a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, counselors, certified hospice aides, clergy, therapists and volunteers. Each provides assistance based on their own area of expertise and patient needs. In addition, hospices provide medications related to the hospice diagnosis, supplies, equipment and respite services.
You are always in charge. You may revoke hospice services at any time and seek additional treatments. The ViaQuest staff will work with you to in whatever path you chose to take. If a discharged patient should later need to return to hospice care, Medicare and most private insurances will again allow coverage at that time.
